Mathcounts
Mathcounts preparation is an advanced problem-solving class designed to prepare each student to participate in the rigorous Mathcounts program. Each student should possess excellent computational skills.
Success in Algebra I
This course is designed for students who have taken a pre-algebra course. Many topics and concepts of Algebra I are reviewed: factoring, graphing, fractions, square roots, quadratic equations, operations on numbers and variables and equations in one and two variables.
Math Preparation for the PSAT/SAT/ACT
This course teaches strategies and techniques for taking standardized math exams. Familiarity with the various types of test questions will be gained by taking and grading timed practice tests, and analyzing questions for content and the logical response.
An Introduction to Geometric Proofs
Learn to work with the language of geometry. Much of the time will be spent on constructing formal geometric proofs, using basic definitions and theorems.
Getting Ready For Algebra II
This class is designed to knock the rust off of Algebra I skills and prepare students for success in Algebra II. Topics include: imaginary numbers, quadratic equations, logarithms, matrices, and conic sections.
